Before proceeding to answer the question of whether the European and U.S. colonialism and neocolonialism contribute to a rise in nationalism among colonized populations in Asia and Latin America, it must be made clear the definition of the word nationalism. In simple words, it means supporting one's culture, country and the idea of being free from suppression. In many colonized area the people are suppressed by the colonizers and this lead to the nationalism among the citizens of the country. Neocolonialism means the indirect way of how developed countries control the less developed countries by exploiting natural resources and other resources.
